In September of 2006 I joined a group organized by Cathay Forest and Jennings Capital for a tour of China focusing on the forestry and paper industry.

While touring outside Shanghai we visited the largest private paper mill in China, Xinyapaper. In this room we pulp and recycled paper from around the world are collected and prepared for paper production. In the piles around us there is paper from Canada, USA, South America, and Europe. Chinese paper mills must still continue to import pulp because of the extreme shortages of domestic supply. When Cathay begins harvesting their forests this will become much cheaper for mills because of the much cheaper transportation.
